Digitisation

Kulturstiftung Sachsen-Anhalt is, of course, involved in preserving historical values. As a result, our daily work includes “modern” tasks such as digitisation. Within the foundation, this began with a three-year funding project at Moritzburg Art Museum, Halle an der Saale. A specially founded central digitisation office deals with this matter along with a working group which holds regular meetings.

In future, a digital database will replace inventory books, index cards and archive lists. Modern software will consolidate all the existing information on our artistic and cultural assets, manage lending and keep records of restoration processes. Our work also includes professionally creating archivable image data, either with our own reproduction equipment or with the help of commissioned photographers. Since 2012, we have brought together roughly 120,000 data records on items from seven different museums (as of December 2018). The aim is now to successively record all of the approx. 330,000 works presented at our sites.

And, as not everyone can make the trip to Saxony-Anhalt, in future we will be making many objects accessible to the public digitally, e.g. on these websites:
